Personal touches Proposals Tradition

Once Every Four Years. Make it Memorable.

Gorgeous ladies, if you’re wondering when your man will pop the question, why don’t you put the matters in your own hands? Who says it’s only men who can make the move? Tradition has it that leap day aka Sadie Hawkins Day is the only day that women can propose to men, as by law, it was a non-existent day. So, how do you do it without making a fool of yourself?

1.  Make sure he will definitely say yes. He may not have taken the plunge for a reason so suss out what he thinks about marriage.
2.
Buy a gift for him, not a ring. Depending on whether he is an alpha male or not, the act of proposing may just put a dent to his ego. Putting an engagement ring on his finger will just end it
3. C
hoose a place that’s special for both of you. Again, as I’ve mentioned many times before, do not propose in public. It could be when you’re snuggling up on the couch; a place where he’ll feel comfortable. Trust me, men do not have fantasies about how they’ll be proposed to, so for them, this very act will just make their heart beat that much faster. Also, don’t get down on one knee, unless you have a motif like Sandra Bullock in The Proposal.
4.
Tell him you love him and how much he means to you. That should hopefully melt his heart.

Good luck!

Oscar's White Carpet 2012.

The Oscar’s red carpet had its fair share of white and cream dresses that could easily transform into a stunning wedding gown. Take your pick from embellished frocks (totally digging Milla Jovovich’s sultry look) to the simple and sleek (a la Gwyneth Paltrow). And the Oscar goes to…..

Sparkle.

DIY Projects Groom Groomsmen Personal touches

Non-Floral Boutonnieres. Be Creative.

Now that the girls are sorted with their bouquet, what about the guys? Many grooms complain about the feminine aspect of pinning a flower on their lapel so give them something funky to wear to shut them up! How about a mini-guitar for a music fan or a toy bird for a serial twitter? There are so many ideas you can play around with and if your man loves to wear his heart on his sleeve, you can literally make him a heart shaped pin. How sweet.

Non-floral Bouquets. Be Different.

You like to be different and you’re bored of the traditional floral bouquets. You’d also rather splash out your money on good entertainment for guests or save for an awesome honeymoon. After all, flowers die. Go for edible bouquets with fruits or sweets, felt or pearl bouquets that can last a lifetime and DIY to save yourselves some dime. That’s one cool bridal party.

Team Neon Pink + Turquoise: How Neon Can You Go?

First it was Katy Perry at the Roc-Nation Pre-Grammy brunch, then it was SamCam at yesterday’s London Fashion Week reception. They have both brought an explosion of colour to a very psychedelic 2012. We’re only two months into the year and already, we’ve seen much extreme colour blocking everywhere. Now it’s your turn. Just make sure you don’t wear a neon pink wedding dress, unless you want a cameo in My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding.

Save the Dates: Save the Environment.

You don’t need a graphics degree to create a save the date card that’s simple and informative. All you need is a pen or some chalk, a blank canvas (that can be your face, your hand or the ground) and a camera. It’s oh-so-eco-friendly too.

Proposal: 50 Years from Now.

Men out there who think their proposal idea was or going to be the most unique, think twice. This NYC proposal is so thoughtful and inspiring, I even shed a small tear. How do you see yourselves 50 years from now?
