The Rise of the Wedsites.

The Internet. The modern day technology most of us can’t live without so it comes as no surprise that there’s a plethora of wedding websites aka wedsites that allows couples to share much more than just their wedding location. It’s environmentally friendly as many use wedsites to replace the traditional paper invitations and provides an opportunity for the happy couple to flaunt their adoration for each other, from describing how their love evolved to subjecting you to their photos filled with hugs and kisses. Oh and of course slipping in the snippets of information about traveling to the venue, the registry and possibly a blog to keep the guests updated. Even if you’re not tech-savvy, you can create a stunning wedsite with the help of professional websites whose job it is to make your life easier and relatively stress-free. Bye iWeb. Bye Dreamweaver. Here’s a roundup of some old and newcomers:

1. Appy Couple - Currently free
Whoever doesn’t have a smartphone must be living in the stone ages. Ok, exaggeration but c’mon, keep up with the game. This site is the first of its kind by letting couples create an awesome customizable smartphone app that is beautiful and keeps all guests informed at the same time (you can even tell them you’re stressed out!). Should any of your guests not own a smartphone, you also get a free coordinating wedding website just in case. It’s interactive and allows guests to upload and share photos. Wow them now!

2. Weduary – Currently free (use Facebook to login)
Are you and your beau Facebook addicts? If you are, then this site is just what you need because it’s all about creating a social online platform for your wedding. It’s not only about you but also your guests. They can connect with each other before your big day; perfect for those single friends. Think of yourselves as the matchmaker. The problem we have with Weduary is its reliance on Facebook so all of you, the couple and the guests, will need an account but who doesn’t?

3. Wedding Jojo – US$14.99/month
If you want a user-friendly, customizable wedsite and willing to fork out some money for a stylish and pretty site, Wedding Jojo may just be the one. You can choose from 8 different themes that are colour customizable and password protect your site so only your guests can login. There’s also a free plan available for the budget conscious which provides for limited services.

4. Nearlyweds – US$14.99/month or US$99/year, Free 14-day trial
Again, a simple wedsite builder that offers the technology-challenged couples a platform where they can track their RSVPs, set-up a gift registry and even mass mail the bridal party. Nearlyweds has over 100 designs to choose from so there’s bound to be one design that suits your style.

5. mywedding.com - Free
Too good to be true but mywedding.com has over 600 designs on offer to all couples and it’s free. It’s packed with the same services that other wedsites provide, such as photo galleries, group emailing and you can even order matching invitations. Not only is it a wedsite builder, it’s also filled with abundant resources. Who said there ain’t no such thing as a free lunch?
